Assistance Needed – Dave & Roberta Thompson
Dave and Roberta Thompson lost their home to fire last Friday night. They did have homeowner’s insurance and are currently staying in Geneva’s former house, but need some basic supplies until they can settle somewhere. If you are able to help with pillows, linens, or kitchen utensils it would be appreciated. Contact the church office.
Deacons Meeting moved to August 10th
The regular Deacons meeting for August has been moved to the 10th at 6:30pm
Congrats!!!!!!
Shelly and I are rejoicing with the news that our adopted son Robert Strong asked his girlfriend Hannah to marry him and she said yes! They plan to have a year engagement and to be married before Robert leaves for seminary in KC next fall (2011). Hannah is already in med school in KC. Pray for them as they continue to make plans for their future and service to the Lord. We are very proud of Robert and are pleased to welcome Hannah to the Whitney household.

While the Cats away……..
You know that old saying; “While the cat’s away the mice will play”. It appears to be true. This last Sunday July 18th we were down in attendance in every category: 100 in early service, 140 in second service and 194 in Sunday School! We want to see a rebound this Sunday so we are encouraging everyone to make every effort to be here this Sunday July 25th. Come! Let’s join together in worship!

VBS Needs
You still have a chance to help out in VBS! Even if you are not helping “in person,” you can donate. For our carnival and VBS we need hot dogs and buns, stick horses (we can return these), individually wrapped candy, chex/cheerio/honeycomb cereals, crackers, spray cheese, and large Kool-Aid mix. Call Amy Knoll at 896-6095 (Sports Crusaders Office) or the church office to let us know you are planning to donate. Thanks for your help.
Frank’s Funnies
The pastor asked a little boy — “What is a lie?” The Little Boy replied, “It is an abomination unto the Lord and a very present help in the time of need.”
